A vibrant mix of Oriental Lilium Bulbs, Lilium orientalis produces tall stems topped with large, fragrant blooms in pink, white, and deep tones, the flowers 12–20 cm across on strong stems 80–120 cm high. Flowering through Summer, these Lilies add elegance and scent to garden beds, borders, and pots. They prefer full sun to part shade and well-drained, fertile soil, and benefit from a sheltered position. Planting in Autumn allows bulbs to establish roots over winter, while Spring planting will lead to stunning Summer blooms. Plant bulbs 8–10 cm deep, 20-30 cm apart, in well-worked soil. If drainage is poor, plant shallower and mound soil over the bulb. A good dressing of fertilizer each Spring is recommended. To prevent aphid and occasional fungal attacks, spray new growth every 2–3 weeks with a suitable fungicide or insecticide. Ideal for cut flowers or dramatic seasonal colour. They are being held in cool storage and should be planted as soon as possible on arrival. They are A grade lilies. Size 14/16 or bigger on average. Flowers last around 3–5 weeks, depending on the weather — warmer conditions shorten the bloom time. A mix of colours helps extend the overall flowering period, as yellows are usually first to flower (around 90–100 days) and some whites can take up to 120 days. For even longer display, stagger planting (e.g. 25 bulbs per week) to add up to another 4 weeks of blooms. Lilium orientalis is native to Japan and these free-flowering plants can be left undisturbed for years, providing summer colour and fragrance.

Foliage Type

Evergreen plants retain foliage year-round but still shed and replace some leaves gradually as part of their normal growth cycle, rather than losing them all at once.

Deciduous plants shed all their leaves for part of the year (usually in autumn and winter), usually in response to colder temperatures or dry seasons, often producing seasonal colour before leaf drop.

Semi-evergreen plants sit between the two, keeping most of their foliage but losing some or all leaves briefly under cooler or drier conditions before quickly regrowing them.
