Thuja occidentalis ‘Smaragd’

Compared to Thuja occidentalis ‘Pyramidalis’, Thuja occidentalis ‘Smaragd’ is shorter and has finer leaves. Its leaves are fresh-green in color, and it forms a dense, narrowly-conical habit. Thuja occidentalis ‘Smaragd’ is very reliable and quick-growing, making it an excellent choice for screens and focal points. It also serves as a superb container plant. Evergreen and native to central and eastern Canada and north-central and eastern United States. This variety was selected in 1950 by D. T. Poulsens Nursery in Kvistgård, Denmark.
