Platanus x acerifolia ‘Suttneri’ is a very handsome tree with a rounded and branched head. Its bark is attractive and mottled, and peels off in large flakes. The large leaves are heavily-striped and splashed with white, making it a beautiful and unique option as a shade tree. During the autumn season, its leaves turn yellow-orange, providing a beautiful display of fall foliage. Platanus x acerifolia is deciduous, not native to New Zealand, and a hybrid between Platanus orientalis and Platanus occidentalis. Learn more about Platanus x acerifolia. Platanus x acerifolia ‘Suttneri’ was introduced to the United Kingdom shortly after the mid-20th century and possibly originated before 1896.
