Cotinus coggygria ‘Golden Spirit’ has lime and golden foliage that lasts throughout the spring and summer, providing a bright contrast to darker areas. In the fall, the foliage of Cotinus coggygria ‘Golden Spirit’ turns a beautiful shade of orange and red. While it may not flower as profusely as other Cotinus coggygria cultivars, it may produce pink flower plumes on old wood in mid-summer. Cotinus coggygria ‘Golden Spirit’ grows best in part-shade and requires consistently moist soil. Cotinus coggygria is deciduous and native to a large area from southern Europe, east across central Asia and the Himalayas to northern China. Cotinus coggygria ‘Golden Spirit’ was discovered in 1989 in Boskoop, Netherlands by Sanders-van Harn and Adriana Christina Bastiana (USPP13082).
