Citrus mandarin 'Encore' produces medium-sized fruit with a thin, yellow-orange rind and deep-orange, juicy flesh that has a rich flavor. The fruit ripens from late-spring to late-summer, providing a delicious taste during the warmer months. Citrus mandarin 'Encore' has scented white flowers that bloom throughout the summer season, and it is self-fertile, meaning that it does not require additional pollination from other trees to produce fruit. Citrus mandarin 'Encore' grows upright with almost no thorns, making it easy to care for and harvest. Citrus mandarin is evergreen and native to China, Japan, and Vietnam. Citrus mandarin 'Encore' is a hybrid between the King mandarin (Citrus nobilis) and Willowleaf mandarin (Citrus x deliciosa) produced by H. B. Frost and introduced in 1965.

This is a general guide. When a plant flowers, fruits and colours up depends on the climate where you live and on the season. If timing matters, please reach out to our team.

Foliage Type

Evergreen plants retain foliage year-round but still shed and replace some leaves gradually as part of their normal growth cycle, rather than losing them all at once.

Deciduous plants shed all their leaves for part of the year (usually in autumn and winter), usually in response to colder temperatures or dry seasons, often producing seasonal colour before leaf drop.

Semi-evergreen plants sit between the two, keeping most of their foliage but losing some or all leaves briefly under cooler or drier conditions before quickly regrowing them.
