Apple 'Waltz' produces large fruit with green skin maturing to golden yellow with a substantial red blush on the sun-exposed faces.. The fruit are suitable for fresh fruit, drying and cooking. Apples ripen in autumn around April and have cream coloured flesh that is medium grained and crisp. The apples are juicy and moderately sweet with a degree of tartness. Suitable for fresh fruit, drying and cooking. Apple 'Waltz' is partly self-fertile but will produce better crops with cross-pollination with other Ballerina cultivars or compatible mid-season apples. Apple is deciduous and native to Afghanistan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Pakistan, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, and China. Apple 'Waltz' was developed under the direction of Ken Tobutt at The Kent Incorporated Society for Promoting Experiments in Horticulture's East Malling Research Station in Maidstone, Kent (U.K.). It was created in 1976 by pollinating the flower of a Wijcik Spur McIntosh with the pollen of Golden Delicious. Selected at the 1984 National Fruit Trials, Brogdale Farm, Faversham, Kent. Initially designated SA 251-18, it was later given the name Telamon. The names Waltz and Ultraspire were adopted for marketing purposes.

This is a general guide. When a plant flowers, fruits and colours up depends on the climate where you live and on the season. If timing matters, please reach out to our team.

Foliage Type

Evergreen plants retain foliage year-round but still shed and replace some leaves gradually as part of their normal growth cycle, rather than losing them all at once.

Deciduous plants shed all their leaves for part of the year (usually in autumn and winter), usually in response to colder temperatures or dry seasons, often producing seasonal colour before leaf drop.

Semi-evergreen plants sit between the two, keeping most of their foliage but losing some or all leaves briefly under cooler or drier conditions before quickly regrowing them.
