Prunus x subhirtella ‘Peggy Wilson’ has a vase-shaped growth habit with spreading branches, making it well-suited to smaller gardens. It flowers very well in warmer climates, and in early-spring, Prunus x subhirtella ‘Peggy Wilson’ becomes smothered with large, pale blush-pink blossoms, adding a soft and delicate look to the landscape. In the autumn months, the leaves of Prunus x subhirtella ‘Peggy Wilson’ turn shades of orange and yellow, adding a bright splash of color to the landscape. Prunus x subhirtella is a hybrid between Prunus itosakura (syn. Prunus subhirtella) and Prunus incisa. Prunus x subhirtella is deciduous and native to Japan. Prunus x subhirtella ‘Peggy Wilson’ was developed in New Zealand.
