Magnolia ‘Yellow Lantern’ is deciduous, not native to New Zealand, and a hybrid between Magnolia acuminata var. subcordata ‘Miss Honeybee’ and Magnolia x soulangeana ‘Alexandrina’. Magnolia ‘Yellow Lantern’ was raised before 1985 by Phil Savage in Bloomfield Hills, Michigan, United States.
