This Magnolia produces large yellow flowers with a hint of pink at the base, and the flowers bloom in mid-spring. Magnolia ‘Yellow Lantern’ has an upright and symmetrical growing habit. It is deciduous, not native to New Zealand, and a hybrid between Magnolia acuminata var. subcordata ‘Miss Honeybee’ and Magnolia x soulangeana ‘Alexandrina’. ‘Yellow Lantern’ was raised before 1985 by Phil Savage in Bloomfield Hills, Michigan, United States.
