Magnolia ‘Felix’ produces large, heavily-textured, and fragrant cup-shaped flowers that are red and age to rose-pink. The flowers can be as wide as 35cm and begin to bloom at an early age. Magnolia ‘Felix’ has an upright growth habit with spreading branches and large leaves, and its flowers appear in mid-spring. Magnolia ‘Felix’ is deciduous, not native to New Zealand, and a hybrid between Magnolia ‘Atlas’ and Magnolia ‘Vulcan’. Magnolia ‘Felix’ was raised in 1986 by Mark Jury in Tikorangi, Taranaki, New Zealand and introduced in 2000 (PVR 1875).
