Carpinus betulus ‘Fastigiata’ has an upright, pyramidal form that is quite narrow when young and becomes broader with age. It is an excellent choice as an avenue or street tree, thanks to its attractive appearance and hardiness. Carpinus betulus ‘Fastigiata’ produces yellow autumn leaves and holds some brown leaves through the winter, although less than Carpinus betulus. Its yellow-green catkins in early to mid-spring are a good source of pollen for bees, making it a great addition to a pollinator-friendly garden.
