Sophora microphylla
Small-leaved Kōwhai
Sophora microphylla is known for developing gracefully arching and spreading branches with small leaves, which add to its delicate appearance. It produces golden-yellow flowers that attract nectar-seeking birds, adding to its ornamental value. It can be grown in sun or semi-shade but should be avoided in very dry sites. It looks lovely when sited overlooking water, adding to its overall aesthetic value. The flowers appear from late-winter to mid-spring. Sophora microphylla is evergreen and native to New Zealand.
