This is an elegant, ornamental tree with delicate, mid-green foliage that develops a rounded head of branches. It produces fragrant, pink flowers in spring, with attractive pea-like flowers that hang in racemes along the branches. During autumn, the leaves turn yellow, adding to the beauty of Robinia x margaretiae ‘Hillieri’. Robinia x margaretiae ‘Hillieri’ is easy to grow in full sun, tolerant of drought, and is hardy. Robinia x margaretiae is a hybrid between Robinia hispida and Robinia pseudoacacia. Robinia x margaretiae is deciduous and native to the eastern United States. Robinia x margaretiae ‘Hillieri’ was raised by Messrs Hillier at Hillier Nurseries in Ampfield, United Kingdom and named in 1933.
