This is a round-headed tree with black bark and soft, mid-green, pinnate leaves. In late spring, Robinia x margaretiae ‘Casque Rouge’ produces short, pendulous racemes of showy, lilac-pink flowers in great profusion, adding to its beauty. It is a shade tree that is suitable for smaller gardens. During autumn, the leaves turn yellow. Robinia x margaretiae ‘Casque Rouge’ is tolerant of heat, drought, and pollution. Robinia x margaretiae is a hybrid between Robinia hispida and Robinia pseudoacacia. Robinia x margaretiae is deciduous and native to the eastern United States. Robinia x margaretiae ‘Casque Rouge’ has an unknown origin, but the first recorded mention of it was in 1934 when it was sold in the United States.
