Robinia x ambigua ‘Bella’s Gold’ is a compact grower with golden-yellow leaves that contrast nicely against its new red stems. It can be clipped into a topiary form for added interest. Robinia x ambigua ‘Bella’s Gold’ produces long, white, pea-like flowers in early summer, adding to its beauty. Robinia x ambigua is deciduous, not native to New Zealand, a hybrid between Robinia viscosa and Robinia pseudoacacia, and originated shortly before 1812 in France. Robinia x ambigua ‘Bella’s Gold’ was developed in New Zealand.
