Quince ‘Pineapple’
Quince
This is an attractive fruiting tree with large, pale-green fruit that ripen to a soft yellow when fully mature. The white flesh has a slight pineapple taste and tastes best when cooked or mixed with other fruit. Quince ‘Pineapple’ is hardy and tolerant, but it thrives best in full sun. It typically fruits from mid-autumn through to early-winter, and its pink buds open to white flowers in mid to late-spring. It is self-fertile, so it doesn’t need another tree for pollination. Quince is deciduous and native to the Hyrcanian forest region south of the Caspian Sea. Learn more about Quince. Quince ‘Pineapple’ was developed in the late 1800s by Luther Burbank (1849-1926) in Santa Rosa, California, United States.
