This is a vigorous-growing, columnar tree with lanceolate, glossy-green leaves. Its new spring growth is bronze-red, adding an extra dimension of interest to Quercus laurina. The supple, slender stems of Quercus laurina lend themselves well to being trained horizontally for espaliering and pleaching. Additionally, it can be easily clipped into standards and other forms.
