A narrow-growing, small tree with a tall, erect trunk. Juvenile leaves are short and narrow, distinctly-toothed, and hang from the main trunk. After many years the foliage changes to a small head of leaves. Provides a focal point for restricted sites where a hardy, dramatic tree is required. Similar to Pseudopanax crassifolius, but has more prominently-toothed leaves. Evergreen tree that grows at a slow rate to reach 3m (H) x 1m (W) in 10 years.
