Pseudopanax ferox
Horoeka
This narrow-growing tree has a tall, erect trunk, adding height and structure to the landscape. The juvenile leaves are short and narrow, distinctly-toothed, and hang from the main trunk, creating a unique and striking look. After many years, the foliage changes to a small head of leaves, which vary in color from dark-green to orange-brown, usually with an orange-yellow midrib. Pseudopanax ferox provides a focal point for restricted sites where a hardy, dramatic tree is required. Pseudopanax ferox is similar to Pseudopanax crassifolius, but has more prominently-toothed leaves. Pseudopanax ferox is evergreen and native to New Zealand. Learn more about Pseudopanax ferox.
