Narrow-growing, small tree with a tall, erect trunk. Juvenile leaves are long and narrow and hang from the main trunk. After many years the foliage changes to a small head of leaves. Provides a focal point for restricted sites where a hardy, dramatic tree is required. Similar to Pseudopanax ferox, but has less prominently-toothed leaves. Evergreen tree that grows at a moderate rate to reach 4m (H) x 2m (W) in 10 years.
