Prunus serrulata ‘Ukon’ has a vase-shaped growth habit with upright, spreading branches. Soft-pink buds open to light-green to cream flowers, sometimes tinged with pink. Prunus serrulata ‘Ukon’ produces large, double flowers that are very unique and nestle among the bronze-colored emerging leaves. The flowers bloom from early to mid-spring. In the autumn months, the leaves of Prunus serrulata ‘Ukon’ turn shades of yellow, orange, and red, adding a bright splash of color to the landscape. Prunus serrulata ‘Ukon’ can still be sold in Auckland until 1 September 2023 when they will make a final decision. Prunus serrulata is deciduous and native to China and Korea.
