It typically ripens in the late-summer period and is an excellent choice for cultivation in warmer regions. Prunus salicina ‘Purple King’ produces white flowers during the spring season and has low to moderate resistance to bacterial disease. To achieve pollination, it requires Prunus salicina ‘Billington’ or Prunus salicina ‘Santa Rosa’. Additionally, the leaves of Prunus salicina ‘Purple King’ turn yellow in the autumn months.
