The fruit of Prunus avium ‘Dawson’ have dark purple-black skin and dark-red flesh, and are large and firm. It ripens in early to mid-summer, and the leaves of Prunus avium ‘Dawson’ turn orange to red in the autumn. It produces white flowers in the spring, and pollination is done by Prunus avium ‘Stella’ and Prunus avium ‘Compact Stella’. Prunus avium is deciduous and native to Europe.
