Plum ‘Shiro’ produces white flowers during the spring season, and the plums are versatile and can be used for eating, cooking, canning, preserves, and desserts. Plum ‘Shiro’ requires Plum ‘Santa Rosa’ for pollination. Additionally, the leaves of Plum ‘Shiro’ turn yellow in the autumn months. Plum is deciduous and native to Russia, China, Taiwan, and Vietnam. Plum ‘Shiro’ was developed in 1889 by Luther Burbank (1849-1926) in Santa Rosa, California, United States and was introduced in either 1898 or 1899.
