Platanus x acerifolia grows rapidly to form a large, round-headed tree, with smooth mottled bark that peels off in large flakes. It features large, palmate leaves, and is a great choice for use in large lawns, parks, avenues, and streets. It can be pruned heavily, and is able to survive extreme conditions of poor soil, limited moisture, and pollution. During the autumn season, its leaves turn yellow-orange, providing a beautiful display of fall foliage.
