Pear ‘Red Bartlett’ produces pears with bright-red skin when fully ripe. The fruit is very aromatic and has a melty flesh with good flavor. It ripens in mid to late summer and is an all-purpose pear that can be used for eating fresh, preserving, baking, and poaching. Pollinators for Pear ‘Red Bartlett’ in the North Island are Pear ‘Packham’s Triumph’ and Pear ‘Winter Nelis’, while in the South Island, the pollinators are Pear ‘Doyenné du Comice’ and Pear ‘Conference’. Pear ‘Red Bartlett’ produces white blossoms in the spring and yellow and orange autumn leaves, adding to its visual appeal. Pear is deciduous and native to Europe. Pear ‘Red Bartlett’ was discovered in the early 1930s as a bud sport (spontaneous mutation) on a Pear ‘Williams’ Bon Chrétien’ tree in Victoria, Australia.
