Olea europaea ‘Manzanillo’
Olive
Olea europaea ‘Manzanillo’ produces olives that have excellent texture and are great for eating. It is also one of the best pickling olives available. The branches spread outwards, making it a great choice for pleaching. However, it is not suitable for cold areas. While it is partially self-fertile, it produces the best crops when it is planted alongside Olea europaea ‘Frantoio’. The fruit ripens in autumn, transitioning from green to red before ultimately becoming a purple-black color. It features white flowers during the summer and has grey-green leaves. Olea europaea is evergreen and native from the Mediterranean through Africa to China. Learn more about Olea europaea. Olea europaea ‘Manzanillo’ originated around the city of Seville in Spain.
