Metrosideros umbellata is the most cold hardy of the Metrosideros genus. It has a very slow-growing, bushy, multi-stemmed growth habit, and features red new stems and leaves. The mature leaves of Metrosideros umbellata are glossy, leathery, and pointed. Glowing scarlet flowers are produced from early to mid-summer.
