Metrosideros kermadecensis ‘Variegata’ features green leaves that are broadly margined with cream-yellow. It has a compact growth habit and produces red flowers in mid-summer. Metrosideros kermadecensis ‘Variegata’ is hardy in coastal areas and is an excellent choice for growing in containers and as hedges or as a street or specimen tree. Metrosideros kermadecensis is evergreen and native to New Zealand in the Kermadec Islands. Metrosideros kermadecensis ‘Variegata’ was probably first released by Duncan & Davies Nurseries in New Plymouth, New Zealand and was listed in their catalogue circa 1940-1942.
