A rare form of Metrosideros excelsa with yellow flowers from early to mid-summer. Thrives in coastal situations. Will tolerate poor soils, wet, and drought conditions. Forms a large, broad-headed tree with thick, grey-green leaves. Can be pruned as hedges and screens or left as a specimen. Metrosideros excelsa ‘Aurea’ (Pohutukawa) grows to 8m (H) x 8m (W) in 10 years.
