The fruit has a medium size, is ribbed and crowned, and features bright orange-red flesh with red stripes over gold, along with inconspicuous, fine russet dots. Pink buds turn into white flowers during spring. Malus domestica ‘Galaxy’ is partially self-fertile, but it is best to have a cultivar with a similar bloom period such as Malus domestica ‘Fuji’, Malus domestica ‘Golden Delicious’, or Malus domestica ‘Red Delicious’ for optimal fruit production. The fruit becomes ripe from late summer to early autumn. Malus domestica is deciduous and native to Afghanistan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Pakistan, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, and China. Learn more about Malus domestica. Malus domestica ‘Galaxy’ was discovered in 1985 by Kenneth Kiddle at Huarangi Farm in Havelock North, New Zealand (USPP6955).
