Magnolia ‘Manchu Fan’ produces medium-sized, goblet-shaped flowers that are cream-white in color with a purple-pink flush at the base. The flowers typically have 9 tepals and bloom prolifically from an early age during mid-spring. Magnolia ‘Manchu Fan’ has a vigorous growth habit with an erect, pyramidal form. Magnolia ‘Manchu Fan’ is deciduous, not native to New Zealand, and a hybrid between Magnolia x soulangeana ‘Lennei Alba’ and Magnolia x veitchii. Magnolia ‘Manchu Fan’ was produced by Todd Gresham sometime from 1955 to 1969 at his home in Santa Cruz, California, United States.
