Magnolia denudata ‘Gere’

Magnolia denudata ‘Gere’ produces the same beautiful flowers as Magnolia denudata, but blooms later in mid to late spring. It is a useful choice for areas that experience late frosts. Magnolia denudata ‘Gere’ has an upright, pyramidal growth habit, and it starts flowering from an early age. It is an excellent option for street planting. Magnolia denudata is deciduous and native to China. ‘Gere’ was selected before 1987 by Joe McDaniel from a tree in a cemetery in Urbana, Illinois, United States and was given the name on the nearest tombstone.
