Also known as Eriobotrya japonica. Clusters of small, white flowers in winter. Fruit ripens from early-spring to early-summer. Flavour is sweet-tart, similar to a plum or cherry. Prefers moist, well-drained soil in full-sun, but will tolerate partial shade. Drought-tolerant once established. Self-fertile. Loquat japonica grows to 4m (H) x 3m (W) in 10 years.
