Liquidambar styraciflua ‘Rotundiloba’
American Sweetgum
Instead of pointed lobes like other cultivars, Liquidambar styraciflua ‘Rotundiloba’ has round leaf lobes. It also has smooth bark. During the summer, it has shining green leaves and grows narrowly and pyramidally. In the fall, the leaves of Liquidambar styraciflua ‘Rotundiloba’ turn a glowing burgundy-red color. It does not produce seeds and is an excellent choice for planting along streets. When grown in dry soil, Liquidambar styraciflua ‘Rotundiloba’ develops a taproot that helps reinforce it against wind, while in wetter soil, it only grows superficial roots and is less tolerant of strong winds. Liquidambar styraciflua is native from central and eastern United States to Central America. Learn more about Liquidambar styraciflua. Liquidambar styraciflua ‘Rotundiloba’ was discovered by R. E.
