Liquidambar styraciflua ‘Little Richard’
American Sweetgum
This is a dwarf selection with a narrow, upright growth habit. The leaves turn a brilliant red and orange in autumn, and it tolerates moist and clay soil conditions. In dry soil, it produces a taproot that helps reinforce it against wind, but in wetter soil, it only grows superficial roots and cannot tolerate much wind. Liquidambar styraciflua is native from central and eastern United States to Central America. Learn more about Liquidambar styraciflua.
