A genus of flowering evergreen trees native to southern China, Taiwan, Indochina, southeast North America, and the tropical rainforests of Central and South America.
Species: Gordonia yunnanensis, yunnanēnsis (Latin, adjective), meaning 'of or relating to the Yunnan province in China', in reference to this species' native geographical location.
