Feijoa sellowiana ‘Apollo’
Feijoa
Feijoa sellowiana ‘Apollo’ produces medium to large fruit with thin and smooth skin in mid-autumn. The fruit is subject to bruising and purpling, but the pulp is well-developed and slightly gritty. The flavor is very pleasant, and the quality is excellent. It also produces beautiful red flowers from late-spring to mid-summer. Feijoa sellowiana ‘Apollo’ has an upright and spreading growth habit and is both vigorous and productive. It is coastal and wind-hardy, making it an excellent choice for hedges and screens. While it is partially self-fertile, better crops are achieved when planted with any other feijoa cultivar. Feijoa sellowiana is evergreen and native to the highlands of southern Brazil, eastern Paraguay, Uruguay, northern Argentina, and Colombia. Learn more about Feijoa sellowiana. Feijoa sellowiana ‘Apollo’ was developed by Hayward Wright in New Zealand (PVR 176).
