Tall, dense, pyramidal tree with lower branches sweeping to the ground. Smooth grey bark. Spring leaves are a deep red-purple with a silky sheen. Leaves become dark-purple by summer. The glorious feature of this variety are the deeply-lobed, decorative, oak-like leaves. The autumn leaves are yellow then brown through winter and shed prior to the new leaves emerging.
