Quince ‘Taihape’
Quince
This fruit tree produces aromatic, yellow-skinned fruit with lemon-coloured flesh, which can be used for making cider, jams, and preserves. Quince ‘Taihape’ is tolerant and easy to grow in a sunny spot, and it typically fruits from mid-autumn through to early-winter. Its pink buds open to white flowers in mid to late-spring, and Quince ‘Taihape’ is self-fertile and disease-resistant, so it doesn’t require another tree for pollination and is less susceptible to diseases. Quince is deciduous and native to the Hyrcanian forest region south of the Caspian Sea. Learn more about Quince. Quince ‘Taihape’ was developed from an old tree growing at the Brown Sugar Cafe in Taihape, New Zealand.
