Cyathea dealbata
Ponga
Cyathea dealbata is easily distinguished by the silver-white undersides of mature fronds. It naturally grows in lowland and hill country forests up to about 700m altitude. Cyathea dealbata tolerates drought better than most other tree ferns and enjoys warm summers but prefers to grow in moist soils. It will only tolerate light frosts and does not tolerate strong winds, so it’s best to plant it in a sheltered spot. Cyathea dealbata is evergreen and native to New Zealand.
