Cupressus x ovensii grows well in warmer areas and is a fast-growing variety with naturally wide-spreading branches. It can be easily pruned into a narrow, dense screen, making it a popular choice for privacy barriers. It always has fresh-green leaves that are soft to the touch. It is tolerant of strong winds, but not coastal winds, and has better canker resistance compared to Cupressus x leylandii cultivars.
