Cupressus sempervirens ‘Swane’s Gold’ is a slender, erect, conical variety with golden leaves. It always retains its form, and it does not require pruning or tying to maintain its shape. Cupressus sempervirens is evergreen and native to the eastern Mediterranean. ‘Swane’s Gold’ originated in 1944 as a seedling sourced from a Cupressus sempervirens ‘Stricta’ at the Swane Brothers Nursery in New South Wales, Australia. Cupressus sempervirens ‘Swane’s Gold’ was introduced into commerce in 1956 and was patented in the United States in 1976 (USPP3839).
