Cotinus coggygria ‘Royal Purple’ is a large, bushy grower with rounded leaves that are attractive in appearance. In the spring, the new leaves emerge as a rich maroon-red and gradually mature to a deep wine-purple hue over the summer. In the fall, the leaves become more red in color. Cotinus coggygria ‘Royal Purple’ also produces large, pink, feathery flower plumes in the spring, giving it a smoke-like appearance. Cotinus coggygria is deciduous and native to a large area from southern Europe, east across central Asia and the Himalayas to northern China. Learn more about Cotinus coggygria.
