The new green leaves of Cornus florida ‘Cherokee Sunset’ are variegated with cream-yellow and pink margins, adding to its visual interest. During the summer, the leaves are broadly-margined with yellow. In the spring, large, pink-red, flat flowers appear alongside the new leaves. During autumn, the leaves turn a beautiful blend of red and purple. Cornus florida is deciduous and native to eastern North America and northern Mexico. Cornus florida ‘Cherokee Sunset’ was discovered by Hubert A. Nicholson as a branch sport growing on a Cornus florida ‘Cherokee Chief’ in Franklin County, Tennessee, United States (USPP6305P).
