Cornus florida is deciduous and native to eastern North America and northern Mexico. Cornus florida ‘Cherokee Princess’ was developed by Isaac J. Hawkersmith at his nursery, Ike Hawkersmith Nursery, near Sweetwater, Tennessee, United States in 1950. Isaac originally named Cornus florida ‘Cherokee Princess’ Cornus florida ‘Sno-White’, before changing the name to Cornus florida ‘Cherokee Princess’.
