Cornus controversa ‘Golden Wedding’ has exquisitely arranged branches that are layered and adorned with green leaves that have broad margins of gold. During spring, new growth appears green with edges of pink-orange, while cream-white flowers bloom on the branches in late spring to early summer. As the season progresses, blue-purple to black fruit emerge in late summer to autumn, which are a favorite among birds. The leaves of Cornus controversa ‘Golden Wedding’ turn red in autumn, and due to its slow growth, it is particularly striking as a specimen. Cornus controversa is deciduous and native to China, Korea, the Himalayas, and Japan. Learn more about Cornus controversa. Cornus controversa ‘Golden Wedding’ was produced in Taranaki, New Zealand by Vance Hooper (PVR 30959).
