Clianthus maximus is a small shrub that flowers with clusters of large red flowers that mimic a kākā beak, during winter and spring. These showy flowers attract nectar-eating birds. Clianthus maximus can tolerate full sun and part-shade, and will grow in most free-draining soils.Clianthus maximus is native to the North Island of New Zealand.
