Citrus limon x reticulata
Lemonade Lemon
Citrus limon x reticulata produces pale-yellow fruit that is similar to a lemon in appearance. However, the fruit has a mild, fresh, grapefruit-like flavor that is very refreshing to eat off Citrus limon x reticulata. Citrus limon x reticulata is a heavy cropper during mid-winter to early-spring, with smaller summer crops sometimes occurring. It is also an excellent choice for growing in containers. Citrus limon x reticulata has scented white flowers that bloom throughout the spring season, and it is self-fertile, meaning that it does not require additional pollination from other trees to produce fruit. Citrus limon x reticulata is evergreen and a hybrid of unknown origin, although it is believed to be a hybrid between a lemon (Citrus x limon) and a mandarin (Citrus reticulata). Citrus limon x reticulata was discovered as a chance seedling in New Zealand in the 1980s.
