Citrus ‘Lemonade’ produces pale-yellow fruit that is similar to a lemon in appearance. However, the fruit has a mild, fresh, grapefruit-like flavor that is very refreshing to eat off Citrus ‘Lemonade’. Citrus ‘Lemonade’ is a heavy cropper during mid-winter to early-spring, with smaller summer crops sometimes occurring. It is also an excellent choice for growing in containers. Citrus ‘Lemonade’ has scented white flowers that bloom throughout the spring season, and it is self-fertile, meaning that it does not require additional pollination from other trees to produce fruit. Citrus ‘Lemonade’ is evergreen and a hybrid of unknown origin, although it is believed to be a hybrid between a lemon (Citrus x limon) and a mandarin (Citrus reticulata). Citrus ‘Lemonade’ was discovered as a chance seedling in New Zealand in the 1980s.
