Citrus grapefruit ‘Star Ruby’ produces abundant crops of juicy, red-fleshed fruit with yellow-orange skins. The fruit ripens from late-winter to mid-spring, and in cooler climates, the intensity of the red flesh may be lessened. The fruit holds well on Citrus grapefruit ‘Star Ruby’, and it is low-seeded or even seedless in some cases, with a very good flavor. Citrus grapefruit ‘Star Ruby’ has scented white flowers that bloom throughout the summer season, and it is self-fertile, meaning that it does not require additional pollination from other trees to produce fruit. However, it prefers warmer climates and may not tolerate cold areas with significant frosts. Citrus grapefruit is evergreen and a hybrid between Citrus x sinensis and Citrus maxima.
